About Charles Bukowski

Charles Bukowski was born in Anderbach, Germany in 1920 and grew up in Los Angeles. He published more than forty-five books of poetry and prose, including Legs, Hips, and Behind; Post Office, Barfly, and Notes of a Dirty Old Man. He died in 1994 in San Pedro, California. The piece in this issue will appear in Portions from a Wine-Stained Notebook: Uncollected Poems and Essays 1944–1990, edited by David Calonne, forthcoming from City Lights in the fall.
